I finished what I started tonight. My christmas card design I wanted to get done in time for mailing to my friends and family, is finished.
Tell me what you think!
Thanks to all of my friends out there, I know you're watching.
I have all of you on Deviant to thank for inspiring me to get it done quickly.
Merry Christmas to ALL of you!..

I'm single, I live alone, I'm 49 and live in California. I'm a Calif. native.

I was born an artist. My father was also a commercial artist.
I love watercolor and pen and ink, used both separately and in combination, and also I really like drawing with pencils.

I generally use mechanical pencils, with lead HB widths of 0.3, 0.5, and 0.7. and usually use a plastic or kneaded eraser.

And I like using D'Arches watercolor paper, both hot and cold press, and generally I use the lighter weight, thinner variety of linen rag paper for watercolor painting. Windsor and Newton are my aquarelle paints of choice. But sometimes I take what I can get....as long as it is paint, I'm happy.

I have always loved the smell of Gum-Turpentine. That smell brings back memories of my first discoveries of art, and living around artists in a studio environment.

I've studied with various teachers throughout my life, but during my college years was where I absorbed the most beneficial teachings, studying with professors from UCLA who seemed like magicians in the way that they taught , and in how they truly WORKED hard with us students to transfer their magical talents and abilities to us students.
A good Art teacher is invaluable in a developing-artist's life.
From birth I have had no problems, with accepting an everyday life, in a studio, as a fine artist.

I am intimately familiar with oils also, as well as any other painting mediums.
All mediums are a pleasure, including paper collage, acrylics, tempra, and enamels, pastel, charcoal, crayons, goache, even sculpture or batik, framing my own work when possible, (not uncommon for an artist).

As far as oils go,.... I LOVE them so much, and personally for me,... they are the best medium for seascapes especially, which I also enjoy painting.

Thanks for listening.

Nothing wrong with doing something strictly for the joy of it - don't have to reinvent the wheel. Just here to have fun. Like my feedback? Put me on your dAwatch & let's make it a 2-way street.
